Two brands let you avoid a subscription honestly. Birdbuddy's free tier includes Photo and Sound ID, manual AI recognition, HD and 2K video, automatic photos and videos, live stream and up to 10 guests. Kiwibit sells a Lifetime AI Included variant at its normal $239.99 listed price. Birdfy also sells an AI Lifetime hardware variant, but you must buy that specific model deliberately.

Birdfy sells an AI Lifetime variant alongside a Lite variant that gives only a 7-day AI trial — and the listings do not always make it obvious which one you are looking at.

Or skip the camera entirely

The cheapest way to never pay a subscription is not to buy a subscription product. A squirrel-proof feeder with a lifetime warranty and a window feeder together cost less than any camera here, need no Wi-Fi, and give a closer view of a bird than a 4K sensor twelve inches away does.

That is not a rhetorical point. If what the recipient wants is to see birds closely, a suction-cup window feeder does that better than anything on this page.
