Its free tier includes Photo and Sound ID, automatic photos and 2K video, the live stream and pet alerts, which is more than any major rival gives away. Read the table and the shape is clear. Kiwibit wins on paper for camera, field of view, battery and solar. Birdbuddy wins on the things that decide whether the feeder is still working in year two: a higher ingress rating, a longer warranty, and a free tier that does not throttle identification. Which of those matters more depends on who is receiving it, and for a gift the second list usually does.
What it costs to own
Three years on the free tier: the hardware and nothing else. Three years on Premium: the hardware plus $209.97 for an individual or $296.97 for a family, at the current published annual prices. Seed is the same for every feeder in this class — a 3.8 cup hopper empties in days when the birds find it — and the only other running cost is electricity to charge it, which is negligible.
